園藝治療的定義
　
美國園藝治療協會AHTA1997
    　Horticultural Therapy is a process which uses plants, horticultural activities, and the natural world to promote awareness and well-being by improving the obdy, mind and spirit. HT is universal, adaptable and vaidated by research.
　　園藝治療是一種利用植物、園藝活動、和大自然的環境來促進個體身、心與精神上的功能，以提昇認知與健康的過程。園藝治療是全球性的，可適應性的，並且可進行科學上的研究探討。

加拿大園藝治療CHTA1994
　　Horticulture Therapy is a process using plant and horticultural activities to improve social, educational, psychological and physical adjustment of persons, thus improving their body, mind and spirits.
 　　園藝治療是利用植物和園藝活動來促進個人在社交、教育、心理與身體上，與人相處的適應能力，因此而獲得身、心與精神處的適應能力，各面得到改進與提昇的一個過程。
