水稻耐淹新品系之研發
Rice is the staple food in the world, especially in Asia. Since the rice production is profoundly influenced under stress of weather, the importance of improving cultivars is accentuated. In this study, we adopted the submergence genes (Sub1 gene)into our popular varieties such as TaiKeng 9 (TK9) and Taichung Sen 10 (TCS10)by crossing and marker assisted selection.At first, three basic steps were taken: (1) the submergence detecting system (SDS) was set up for phenotying, (2) the submergence rice lines, MLS-Swa-Sub1 and MLS-IR64-Sub1, were selected from the germplasm, and (3) the primers which could distinguish the submergence or non-submergence rice lines in Taiwan, RM23887 and RM3769, were selected among 7 primers of related submergence genes offered by International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). After two-year breeding experiment, the two selected lines, MY-100-201 and MY-100-202, from the progenies of TK9/MLS-Swa-Sub1 and TCS10/MLS-IR64-Sub1 had the same bands which response to primer RM23887 linked to Sub1 gene. Moreover, these two lines made the entries for advanced yield trials at Miaoli District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (Miaoli DARES) in 2011 and for Agronomic Traits Testing for Bred Lines of Taiwan in 2012. The performance of submergence tolerance and blast resistance of MY-100-201 and MY-100-202 was better than that of the checks, MLS-Swa-Sub1 for submergence and Lomello for blast, respectively.
